THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF SO MANY PEOPLE TODAY.

MANY FAMILIES ACROSS CONNECTICUT WILL HAVE FOOD ON THEIR TABLE FOR THANKSGIVING.

IT WAS ALL PART OF A FOOD DRIVE THAT BROUGHT TOGETHER THE NEWS 8 TEAM, THE CONNECTICUT FOOD BANK, SHOP RITE AND BANK OF AMERICA.

WE COLLECTED VARIOUS FOOD ITEMS OUTSIDE THE STORE TODAY.

FROM SO MANY VIEWERS AND CUSTOMERS.

THEN HELPED TO LOAD UP NOT ONE BUT TWO FOOD BANK TRUCKS.

WE HAD QUITE A FEW GIRL SCOUTS JOINS US AS WELL.

THE NEED FOR DONATIONS IS GREAT.

ROUGHLY HALF A MILLION PEOPLE GO HUNGRY IN CONNECTICUT ALL YEAR LONG.

SARAH PANDOURSKY / CT FOOD BANK THE FAMILIES THAT WE ARE SERVING ARE FACING HUNGER YEAR ROUND BUT THIS IS A GREAT TIME OF YEAR TO DRAW ATTENTION TO THE ISSUE AND LET PEOPLE KNOW HOW THEY CAN SUPPORT THEIR COMMUNITY.

LAST YEAR THE FOOD DRIVE RAISED 9-THOUSAND POUNDS OF FOOD.

THE GOAL IS TO SURPASS THAT AMOUNT THIS YEAR, A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART IN TODAY'S EVENT.

3 CHIEF METEOROLOGIST GIL SIMMOINS WAS CERTAINLY MISSED TODAY IN EAST HAVEN.

BUT HE WAS HELPING OUT AT ANOTHER FOOD DRIVE.
